Highest demand for estate agents in a decade
2020 has been a troubling year for all, but the property market has remained resilient. During 2020 there has been the highest level of demand for estate agents in over a decade.
As suggested by NEAE Propertymark and ARLA Propertymark’s 2020 sales data there was typically 403 buyers registered per branch.
The previous peak in individuals registered per branch came in 2015 at 379. 2020’s data was also 55% higher than in the averaged 260 in 2010.
Mark Hayward, chief policy advisor at Propertymark has argued that due to the government prioritising the property market, through schemes such as the stamp duty holiday, it has allowed for record breaking levels of involvement in the property sector.
He is confident that this high level of activity will continue throughout 2021. One of his concerns is the cliff edge of the stamp duty holiday.
